At least one Palestinian minor has lost his life and hundreds more sustained different injuries on Friday as Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) attacked the Great March of Return protests at Gaza-Israel border.
According to the PIC field reporters Israeli forces heavily fired live bullets and rubber-coated steel rounds at the protesters who gathered at many encampments along the border killing a teen and injuring 210 others.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement that 17-year-old Bilal Mustafa Khafaja was fatally shot in his chest by an Israeli sniper while 210 others were injured 70 of them by gunfire.
Meanwhile the protesters were able to set fire to tires in an attempt to create a thick cloud of black smoke to obstruct the vision of Israeli snipers stationed along the border siege.
More than 172 Palestinians have been killed and 18000 others injured since the outbreak of the Gaza border protests on March 30. The protests call for ending the 12-year-long Israeli blockade of Gaza and for the right of return of the refugees.
Most of the casualties occurred on May 14 when Israeli forces attacked Palestinian protesters marking the 70th anniversary of Israel’s occupation of historical Palestine and the ensuing ethnic cleansing of half a million Palestinian refugees.
