Cairo talks to be resumed after Eid al-Adha

Sunday 19-August-2018

Palestinian factions’ delegations to Egypt returned to Gaza on Sunday morning following a round of talks and consultations in Cairo that lasted for about a week.

A source familiar with the negotiations told the PIC that the delegations will return to Cairo to resume the consultations after Eid al-Adha.

The source confirmed that ending the Palestinian division and breaking Gaza blockade are at the top of Cairo talks’ agenda.

Representatives of different Palestinian factions headed to Egypt about a week ago at the request of the Egyptian Intelligence Service to discuss the reconciliation and the ceasefire between the Israeli occupation and Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza. No final agreement has been reached yet.

Member of Hamas’s Political Bureau Khalil al-Hayya on Friday said that his movement is doing its best to ensure the success of the efforts made by Egypt and the UN to end the Israeli blockade on Gaza.

In a speech he delivered while taking part in the Great March of Return on Friday al-Hayya affirmed that the protests will continue until they achieve their goals and break the siege forever.

Al-Hayya pointed out that the Palestinian factions have agreed on one vision regarding the reconciliation and the siege. He added that all factions believe that the Gaza Strip is in need for new humanitarian projects.

Hamas leader stressed that the Great March of Return has shown the world that Gaza “deserves to live”.
