Israeli cabinet to hold meeting Sunday on Gaza escalation

Sunday 12-August-2018

Israeli cabinet is set to hold a meeting Sunday evening to discuss the latest escalation in the Gaza Strip.

Hebrew TV channel Two said that it is not clear whether new decisions will made to find a long-term solution and whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will present the political and security strategy he intends to pursue toward Gaza.

During the opening of the Israeli government’s weekly session Sunday morning Netanyahu said that the only solution his government would accept is one that guarantees calm in the “southern front”.

Three Palestinian civilians including a pregnant woman and her one-year-old child were killed as Israeli warplanes launched dozens of airstrikes on different Gaza targets Wednesday and Thursday.

Two Palestinians including a paramedic were killed when the Israeli occupation forces heavily opened fire at the Palestinians protesting peacefully near Gaza border on the 20th Friday of the Great March of Return.
