The Israeli occupation authorities on Wednesday seized a stone that collapsed a few days earlier from Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam.
The occupation authorities moved the seized rock which weighs up to 100 kilograms to a place adjacent to the Maghareba Gate.
The Israeli municipality closed off the Buraq Wall area after a stone fell down on Monday.
A large block of the Buraq Wall which makes part of al-Aqsa’s western wall collapsed on Monday in what activists attributed to the Israeli excavations in the area.
Director-General of the Islamic Awqaf Department Azzam al-Khatib urged the UNESCO to dispatch an official envoy so as to inspect the damage wrought by the Israeli excavations underneath al-Aqsa Mosque.
