Rally held in Gaza over Israel’s mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners

Dozens of activists joined on Thursday a rally staged in Gaza in solidarity with the Palestinian hunger-strikers in Israeli jails.

The rally was organized by the Muhjat al-Quds Foundation for Prisoners and Martyrs outside of the office of the UN High Commissioner in Gaza to speak up against Israel’s mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners.

Speaking on behalf of Mujat al-Quds Tareq Abu Shalouf sounded the alarm over Israel’s oppressive measures and torture tactics against Palestinian detainees.

He said several detainees have started an open-ended hunger strike to protest administrative detention terms issued with neither charge nor trial.

Abu Shalouf warned of the turn for the worse prisoner Hasan Shwaka’s health has taken as a result of the hunger strike which has been ongoing for 48 consecutive days.

He said the detainee has undergone vision disorders.

Meanwhile Islamic Jihad leader Khader Habib said the Palestinian resistance will leave no stone unturned to liberate Palestinian prisoners and capture more Israeli soldiers.

Habib urged the concerned human rights institutions and the Palestinian Authority to rally round the Palestinian detainees pressurize Israel to lift its administrative detention policies and file a lawsuit at the International Criminal Court over the Israeli crimes against the Palestinians.
