The Israeli occupation army has started to deploy electronic eyes to track and combat airborne incendiary objects launched into Israeli areas from the Gaza Strip according to Israeli news reports.
Over the last three months dozens of fire kites and balloons had been launched by Palestinian protesters from Gaza into Israeli-controlled areas (southern Israel). They have caused fires almost daily burning thousands of acres of land.
This technology which is called the “Sky Spotter” system identifies where kites and balloons are launched from and is able to track the airborne objects before they cross the border.
Sky Spotter developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has been operating in the field on the border with Gaza for several days according to a Hadashot newspaper Thursday.
Initially created to counter small drones Sky Spotter also can be used to track airborne incendiary objects identify their exact location and determine where they will land.
The operators of the system can then provide early warning to firefighters who will be ready to handle any small flames before they spread out.
The system will also direct Israeli drones to intercept and bring down Gaza kites and balloons in mid-air.
