Qatayef is a staple Ramadan dessert that is rarely absent from Iftar tables in the Gaza Strip.
Qatayef pastry is made of a special kind of flour. The batter is poured onto a hot plate appearing similar to beehives with only one side cooked in less than a minute.
Qatayef can be served after the pastry is filled with cheese cream walnuts almonds raisins cinnamon or peanuts.
It is served either deep-fried or baked with a hot syrup. Some people prefer to eat it raw with some cream.
