DFLP rejects Abbas’s vision on Palestinian-Israeli conflict

Wednesday 2-May-2018

The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) on Tuesday announced its rejection of the Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas’s vision to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict which he reintroduced during the Palestinian National Council (PNC) meeting in Ramallah.

During the speech he delivered at the opening of the PNC meeting on Monday Abbas reiterated the vision he introduced before the UN Security Council on 20th February in which he called for an international conference for peace.

The DFLP said in a statement that Abbas’s vision contradicts the resolutions of the Central Council of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and indicates a return to the Oslo Accords.

The DFLP called on the PNC to reject this vision and adopt the decisions of the Central Council which mirror the real face of the Palestinian cause as a liberation movement by people under occupation.

The Palestinian movement called for reforming the PLO institutions and ending the Oslo Agreement security coordination and all forms of economic dependence on Israel.

It also called for a serious action toward ending the internal division breaking the siege on Gaza and lifting the sanctions imposed on the Palestinian people there.

The 23rd session of the PNC kicked off on Monday evening in Ramallah despite being boycotted by many Palestinian factions including Hamas the Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine as well as a number of senior Palestinian figures.
