PA security arrests two ex-detainees still holds others illegally

Friday 23-February-2018

In the context of its security collaboration with the Israeli occupation the Palestinian Authority (PA) security agencies arrested two ex-detainees and persist in holding others with no legal grounds.

In Bethlehem the PA preventive security forces arrested on Thursday Ahmed al-Arrouj an ex-detainee in Israeli jails. He is also the brother of four prisoners being held by Israel.

In Jenin another ex-detainee called Ma’ed Kanaan was kidnapped by the PA intelligence forces from his home in Jaba town.

The PA security authorities also refuse to release prisoner Seddiq Odeh from Seida town in Tulkarem.

Prisoner Odeh has just started a hunger strike in protest at his transfer to Jericho jail and his detention for more than a month with no guilt.

Another prisoner called Qasem Sawwi has been on hunger strike for 10 days in protest at his illegal detention by the preventive security for three months.

For his part prisoner Louay Freij has announced his determination to continue his hunger strike to demand an end to his detention for over five months illegally although the preventive security apparatus threatened to transfer him to Jericho jail if he did not end his hunger strike.
