Hundreds of Jewish settlers at dawn Wednesday stormed Nablus city under military escort to perform rituals and revel at Arab historical sites they claim to Jewish.
According to settlers’ social media pages about 1300 Jews including rabbis visited Joseph’s Tomb (a grave belongs to Sheikh Yousef Duwaik a Muslim religious figure).
The settlers also visited for the first time the historical site of Tell Balata which is the remains of an ancient Arab Canaanite city.
Their entry to the eastern area of Nablus was preceded by deployment of dozens of troops on its streets on Tuesday night.
Overnight violent clashes reportedly broke out between local young men and Israeli soldiers. One young man was arrested during the events.
