The Palestinian Authority (PA) on Thursday said that the latest statements by the member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Ahmad Majdalani on the deal of the century do not represent the official Palestinian position.
The PA said in a statement that these statements represent only Majdalani’s personal opinion and do not reflect in any way the position of the Palestinian leadership and the PA president Mahmoud Abbas.
It stressed that Abbas and the Palestinian leadership have all respect for the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support of the Palestinian people and their just cause.
The PA statement came two days after Majdalani said during an interview with Palestine TV channel that the US proposals on the peace process in the Middle East known as “the deal of the century” are aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause.
Majdalani who is close to Abbas affirmed that the US proposals were presented to the Palestinian side through Saudi Arabia explaining that the deal is aimed at eliminating the Palestinian cause and establishing a regional alliance which Israel will be part of against Iran.
