The boy who wrote his last poem too early

Friday 5-January-2018

In the footsteps of martyrs young boy and poet Musab al-Tamimi from the village of Deir Nizam north of Ramallah has left us early after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) shot him dead.

Musab Tamimi 17 years old was killed on Wednesday afternoon on 3 January 2018 succumbing to serious injuries inflicted by the IOF soldiers who fired at his head at point-blank.

Eyewitnesses said that the IOF soldiers shot at the boy from a very close distance during clashes that broke out in the village of Deir Nizam between the youths and the occupation forces.

The witnesses added that Musab was transferred by a Red Crescent Society ambulance to the Arab Advisory Hospital where his death was proclaimed a short time later due to the fatal shot.

A Poet who left early
The village of Deir Nizam knew Musab as a young man who was working hard to become a poet. Fidaa Imran wrote on Facebook “I was saddened by a post of a friend from the Tamimi family whose cousin was martyred yesterday despite the simplicity of the words; the description was more painful in my memory than the scene of a mother crying over her son.”

Imran quoted the cousin of Musab as saying “My cousin Musab was martyred. He was a poet. He used to tell me some of his poems when I would return from abroad. Today the enthusiastic young man decided to write his last poem early.”

“I always say that learning language well is more important than cameras more important than videos and even more important than the truth we see with our naked eyes” she said.

Intentional murder
Describing the details of the martyrdom of the child Musab al-Tamimi his father said that the occupation forces arrested a young man with mental disabilities. A group of people moved to the entrance to the village to release him. They told the Israeli officer in charge that the young man had mental issues but the officer told the residents that the soldiers arrested a citizen and would kill another.

The father confirmed that he and his companions returned from the entrance of the village after seeing the soldiers’ anger and thirst for murder. Only a few minutes later the soldiers fired a bullet at his child from a single meter distance killing him instantly the father added.

The Israeli army spokesman claimed that the Israeli forces fired at a Palestinian during clashes near the village of Deir Nizam on suspicion that he was carrying a weapon although eyewitnesses confirmed that the soldier fired at the child from a very close range.
