The Hamas Movement has described Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu’s welcoming of Tel Aviv’s warming relations with Arab countries as “a reflection of how deep these ties have gone and the level some Arab regimes have sunk to.”
In a press release on Sunday Hamas spokesman Abdul-Latif al-Qanua warned that the normalization of Arab ties with the Israeli occupation would harm the Palestinian cause calling such rapprochement “treason.”
He called for supporting the Palestinian people through prosecuting Israeli war criminals at the International Criminal Court instead of establishing new relations with “an illegal entity.”
Netanyahu on Saturday said he welcomed Israel’s warming ties to Arab countries in the region after the foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates tweeted a link to a news report on the subject.
“I welcome the closer relations between Israel and many Arab states. The time has come for normalization and peace” Netanyahu tweeted.
Earlier UAE foreign minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan tweeted a link to a story in the UK’s Spectator titled: “Islam’s reformation: an Arab-Israeli alliance is taking shape in the Middle East.”
