Haneyya meets Turkish President Erdoğan in Istanbul

A delegation from Hamas led by the head of the movement’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Saturday met with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul.

The meeting addressed in depth many important Palestinian issues especially Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque as well as Turkey’s role in supporting the Palestinian people.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments related to the Palestinian elections to be held and the efforts being made to achieve reconciliation and end the internal division.

They also touched on the tragic humanitarian situation in the besieged Gaza Strip and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.

For his part Haneyya hailed Turkey and President Erdoğan for their incessant support for the Palestinian people and their just cause.

The meeting was attended by senior Hamas officials including Maher Salah Hamas’s chief abroad Khalil al-Hayya head of the Media office Izzat al-Resheq head of the Arab and Islamic Relations Office and Jehad Yaghmour the movement’s representative in Turkey.
