A lengthy meeting which lasted over five hours was held in Cairo on Tuesday night between head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya and secretary-general of Islamic Jihad Ziyad al-Nakhalah.
During the meeting which was attended by senior officials from the Movements the two sides discussed different issues of mutual interest.
In a joint statement Hamas and Islamic Jihad said that their leaders discussed in particular the dangers threatening the Palestinian cause in light of the attempts to liquidate it as well as the ways to confront the US deal of the century and Israel’s Judaization activities in Jerusalem and al-Khalil.
The two sides also discussed the Zio-American attempts to end the issue of the Palestinian refugees and their right to return to their homeland and areas in addition to the Israeli settlement activities in the West Bank and the US position in this regard.
They also talked about the latest developments in the Palestinian arena especially with regard to the efforts to hold elections and restore the national unity.
