A horde of Jewish settlers set fire to a Palestinian-owned olive grove at an early morning hour on Tuesday in the archeological area of Sebastia town northwest of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.
Sebastia mayor Mohamed Azem told WAFA news agency that the vigilance of local residents and guard committees saved hundreds of dunums of olive trees from being burned.
Azem added that the settlers set fire to about 25 dunums of olive trees but the local residents and committees managed to control the flames and fend off the assailants who fled to the illegal abandoned settlement of Homesh under military protection.
