The Hamas Movement has held the Israeli occupation state and its jailers fully responsible for the death of prisoner Bassam as-Sa’yeh a cancer patient and for their persistence in condemning sick prisoners to slow death.
In a statement on Sunday Hamas mourned Sa’yeh a 47-year-old from Nablus saying he died in Israeli jails after he long suffered from health problems and deliberate medical neglect.
The Movement hailed the martyr’s role in resisting the Israeli occupation describing him as “one of the heroes who carried out the Itamar settlement operation in 2015 in retaliation for the murder of al-Dawabsheh family” at the hands of Jewish settlers.
The Israeli prison service on Sunday afternoon announced the death of Bassam as-Sa’yeh in Assaf Harofeh Hospital.
Although he suffered from life-threatening bone and blood cancer Israeli jailers ignored appeals made by human rights groups to release him.
