IOA forces brothers raze their homes tries to evict family in J’lem

Thursday 27-June-2019

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Wednesday forced two Jerusalemite brothers to finish demolishing their homes in Silwan district and tried to forcibly evict a family from its house in the same neighborhood.

According to local sources Hatem and Basel al-Abbasi completed demolishing their housing units in Silwan south of the Aqsa Mosque to avoid incurring demolition expenses if the Israeli municipality was to raze the building.

The family of Abbasi started last week to demolish their homes.

The Israeli municipality which always imposes restrictions on the Palestinians who need to get construction permits justified the measure by claiming the homes had been built with no license.

Meanwhile Israeli police forces tried on the same day to forcibly enter a Palestinian house in Silwan district and forcibly evacuate the family of Siyam.

The police want to displace the family from their home and give it to Jewish settlers.

Members from the family however managed to confront the police forces and prevent them from carrying out the eviction measure.

Police officers verbally attacked Palestinian citizens from the family and threatened to come again and arrest them if they did not leave the house.
