Thousands of Palestinian citizens on Wednesday participated in a march organized in al-Khalil city in protest at the insulting remarks that were made recently by minister of local government Hussein al-A’araj.
The participants chanted slogans denouncing minister al-A’araj and the government of Rami al-Hamdallah.
Addressing the protesters a spokesman for al-Khalil clans called on al-A’araj to step down and leave al-Khalil city within 24 hours.
The spokesman also asked the government to hold the minister accountable for his remarks and stop bullying its citizens.
“If you are tough liberate al-Shuhada street and the Old City of al-Khalil and open more than one thousand closed stores” he added addressing the government.
In a recent public meeting minister al-A’araj accused leaders of the popular protests against the social security law in al-Khalil of working as spies for Israel and living in Kiryat Arba settlement.
