IOA extends Hamas leader’s administrative detention

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Monday extended the administrative detention of the Hamas leader Khalid al-Haj for six months for the third time in a row.

Al-Haj was last arrested in March 2022 after the Israeli occupation forces stormed his house in Jenin.

The 57-year-old al-Haj is an ex-prisoner. He was arrested more than once and spent 16 years in Israeli prisons mostly in administrative detention.

The number of Palestinian administrative detainees increased to 914 this year which is the highest number since 2008.

In a related development the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) reported that prisoner Mohammed al-Khatib 40 suffers from deteriorating health conditions pointing out that he developed kidney problems.

“Since July 2020 al-Khatib has been suffering from severe back pain” the PPS underlined adding that he could not move for more than seven months as he was diagnosed with a herniated disc.
