Badran: Hamas was no party to any talks over Aqaba meeting

Tuesday 28-February-2023

Member of Hamas’s political bureau Husam Badran has categorically refuted that there were consultations between his Movement and Fatah before the Aqaba security meeting that was held recently in Jordan belying remarks made in this regard by senior Palestinian Authority official Hussein ash-Sheikh.

In a statement on Tuesday Badran affirmed that the claims that Hamas held consultations with Fatah about the Aqaba meeting were incorrect and baseless.

The Hamas official pointed out that his Movement holds meetings with all Palestinian parties every once in a while as part of its keenness on serving the Palestinian people’s interests and national cause.

He reiterated Hamas’s condemnation of the Aqaba meeting between Palestinian Authority officials and Israelis affirming that such talks constitute real threats to the Palestinian people’s unity and their resistance.

“Our people and their national forces are fighting today an all-out confrontation with the occupation state in the occupied territories of Jerusalem and the West Bank in defense of their land and holy sites” he underlined.
