Sheikh Sabri warns of Ben Gvir’s plan against Aqsa Mosque

Monday 2-January-2023

Sheikh Ekrima Sabri head of the Higher Islamic Council in Occupied Jerusalem has said that the summons he received from the Israeli occupation police on Monday aims to muzzle him after his objection to extremist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s stated plan against the Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli police officers raided on Monday morning the house of Sheikh Sabri and handed him a summons for interrogation.

“This summons came after the Israeli government published through Ben Gvir a dangerous document of 11 items. We voiced our rejection of this document and considered it dangerous. I believe that the summons was issued because of our position in this regard” Sheikh Sabri told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) on Monday.

“They want to silence us and execute their scheme” he warned.

“This summons is illegal and unjustified and aims to prevent any opposition to that document but we affirm that our position cannot be changed based on unshakable faith and related to our legitimate religious right to the Aqsa Mosque” the Jerusalemite cleric said.

“We categorically reject any harm coming to the Aqsa Mosque” he stressed.

The Hebrew media recently published a document containing 11 items that unveiled the great danger facing the Aqsa Mosque in the coming period.

“Every item of this document is more dangerous than the one preceding it. This is a horrible scheme that is aimed at imposing complete control over the Aqsa Mosque and stripping the Islamic Awqaf Administration of its responsibilities for the Mosque’s affairs” Sheikh Sabri underlined.
