The head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya said that the Movement’s visit to Russia was “political par excellence and some Western parties tried to persuade us to cancel it.”
In a televised interview with Russia Today Haneyya stressed that the Palestinian people have a strong relationship to Russia since the Soviet Union.
Haneyya pointed out that the delegation had delivered a letter to the Russian President Vladimir Putin through his Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Moscow can play an important role with regard to the Palestinian issue the Hamas chief added.
Haneyya also hailed the Iranian support to the Movement at various levels stressing Hamas’s keenness to develop relationship with Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
On the other hand he confirmed that the Al-Qassam Brigades have the black box of the 4 captured Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip.
Haneyya further pointed out that his Movement is ready for a new prisoner swap deal but the Israeli authorities are still manipulating.
Haneyya also stressed the strong cooperation between Hamas and Jihad Movement.
