Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said on Monday that the Jewish settlers’ raids into the Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of Israeli police constitute a provocation of the feelings of Palestinians and Muslims all over the world.
In a press release spokesman Qassem stressed that performing Talmudic rituals in the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards while wearing priestly garments is a provocative step that constitutes part of the repeated Israeli attempts to change the identity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He affirmed that the Palestinian people will continue protecting the Al-Aqsa Mosque by all means possible in addition to escalating their resistance activities in response to the increasing Israeli attacks against the Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem.
Earlier today scores of Jewish settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque through its al-Maghariba gate and provocatively performed Talmudic rituals in the courtyards of the holy site according to the Islamic Awqaf Department in Jerusalem.
Hordes of Jewish settlers protected by Israeli policemen storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque every day except Fridays and Saturdays in an attempt to impose spatial and temporal division on the holy site.
