The Palestinian Authority’s Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said that the prisoner Muhammad Al-Ardah is complaining about the strict procedures and bad treatment imposed on him by the Israeli Eshel prison administration.
The Commission’s lawyer Moataz Shkirat said in a press statement on Tuesday that “when we visited Ardah yesterday we found him in a waiting room where he was left for more than half an hour to be searched without any justification.”
Ardah was arrested for the first time in May 2002; He was sentenced to life imprisonment three times in addition to another twenty years. He is one of the six prisoners who managed to escape from the Israeli Gilboa prison last September. Recently he was sentenced to an additional 5 years in prison as a punishment for his escape from prison. He is currently held in solitary confinement.
The number of Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli prisons reached about 4600 by the end of May 2022 including 31 women 172 children and 682 administrative detainees according to the Prisoners’ Affairs Commission.
