Abdullah Al-Barghouti held in solitary confinement

Sunday 5-June-2022

The Palestinian Prisoner Club said on Saturday that the Israeli prison service (IPS) has been isolating the 50-year-old Palestinian prisoner Abdullah Al-Barghouti in the cells of Ramon prison since May 31.

The Club stated in a statement that “Al-Barghouti is one of the most prominent prisoners who have faced the continuous policy of solitary confinement for many years.”

The statement described the measure as arbitrary that aimed at taking revenge on Al-Barghouti.

Barghouti is serving a 67 life imprisonment sentence in addition to 5200 years. He is considered the owner of the longest ever sentence against a human being in the history of mankind.

The IPS has escalated the policy of solitary confinement since last September after Operation Freedom Tunnel. The number of Palestinian prisoners held in solitary confinement in Israeli prisons has reached 29 by the end of last month.
