The US administration asked Israeli officials on Thursday to reconsider the decision to allow the right-wing settler march of flags to take place in the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem.
According to Ynet website the US administration appealed to Israeli officials to express their concern over the march being held next week through the Muslim Quarter of the Old City.
The Americans said the march could cause further friction and urged the Israelis to reconsider the approval of such event.
Israeli security minister Omer Barlev said last week that the police would approve the march based on recommendations from security agencies.
In this regard the US embassy ordered its staff and their families to refrain from visiting the Old City from Thursday through Monday.
The embassy also published a warning to all American citizens to avoid the area and be vigilant.
