Two Palestinian workers were injured when Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire at a group of workers near the separation wall west of Tulkarm at dawn Sunday.
According to local sources IOF soldiers stationed at a military barrier in western Tulkarem opened fire at the workers while trying to cross the Wall which led to the injury of two workers.
Meanwhile four Palestinian citizens were shot and wounded by Jewish settlers in Surif town to the northwest of al-Khalil on Saturday evening.
Local sources reported that Jewish settlers from the nearby settlement of Bat Ayin attacked the village of Surif under the protection of the IOF soldiers who were present in the area.
They added that dozens of citizens from nearby hamlets rushed to the aid of the people of Surif to repel the settlers’ attack which led to the outbreak of confrontations with the occupation forces who fired gas bombs at them.
Surif town suffers from constant attacks by settlers and the IOF and over the years it has been subjected to campaigns of prosecution arrests and summons of its residents against the background of their political and resistance activity.
Clashes were also reported on Saturday afternoon between Palestinian youths and the IOF soldiers in Kafr Qaddoum village following the start of the weekly anti-settlement march.
Since the beginning of July 2011 Kafr Qaddoum has witnessed every Friday and Saturday marches demanding the opening of the village’s entrance which was closed by the IOF during the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2003.
The IOF soldiers fired rubber-coated bullets and tear gas canisters at the citizens.
The importance of the entrance of the village is the fact that it is a corridor linking Kafr Qaddoum and its surrounding Palestinian villages and towns which caused great suffering to the citizens after it was closed.
Several areas in the West Bank and Jerusalem witness weekly demonstrations on Fridays and Saturdays condemning the settlement activity and rejecting the abusive policies of the IOF against the Palestinian people
