Palestinian prisoners to escalate protest steps

Saturday 12-February-2022

Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli prisons are scheduled to start new protest steps starting from Saturday.

The decision came in protest against the Israeli prison administration’s punitive measures against them.

The protest steps include a one-day hunger strike on Monday.

Starting from Saturday the prisoners will close all the prisons’ section in the morning hours.

The prisoners will later reject food meals over the three next days.

This came as a state of tension prevailed in Israeli prisons after Israeli prison administration prevented the prisoners from performing Friday prayer.

However the prisoners have challenged the Israeli ban and threats and succeeded to perform the Friday prayer.

Meanwhile 500 administrative detainees continue to boycott the Israeli courts for the 43rd consecutive day protesting their illegal administrative detention according to which they are held without charge or trial for indefinite periods of time.

Palestinian prisoners to escalate protest steps

Monday 18-July-2016

GAZA (PIC)– Palestinian prisoners decided to escalate their protest steps in solidarity with the hunger striker Bilal Kayed a rights group revealed on Monday.

37 Prisoners held in different Israeli prisons launched an open hunger strike on Sunday while additional prisoners are scheduled to join the strike on Tuesday the sources added.

According to the group the protest steps include refusing meals closing the prisons’ sections and boycotting morning count.

Bilal Kayed declared hunger strike 36 days ago in protest against his administrative detention without charge or trial following the expiration of his 14.5 year sentence in Israeli prisons on 13 June.

Palestine Center for Prisoners’ Studies said that Kayed and his comrades in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine as well as Palestinian prisoners across political lines will continue their escalated protests until Kayed’s immediate release.

The center also called on human rights institutions to intervene urgently for Kayed’s release and for putting an end to Israeli arbitrary measures and violations against Palestinian prisoners.

Earlier last week Kayed’s brother Mahmoud and sister Suha have released video statements calling on Palestinian Arab and international forces to act in support of Kayed. Over 150 international organizations – and now 20 Brazilian political parties unions and women and student organizations – have joined the call for Kayed’s release and many events have been organized in cities around the world in support of his case.
