Israel intensifies its aggression in Negev

Thursday 13-January-2022

Israeli police forces launched a large-scale arrest campaign in the eastern areas of the Negev mainly in al-Attrash village unrecognized by Israel.

More than 50 Palestinians were arrested since the start of the Israeli attacks on Negev villages on Tuesday 18 of them are still held in Israeli custody.

Local sources affirmed that minors and women were among the detainees saying that fresh arrests were carried out on Thursday morning.

Earlier Tuesday the police destroyed the sit-in tent that was set up by al-Attrash family and prevented them from reaching their seized lands.

During the attack Israeli police forces fired rubber bullets and stun grenades at the local residents after they protested the bulldozing of their lands as a prelude to turning them into shrubland.

Al-Attrash Arab land is one of several Bedouin villages in the Negev desert which are “unrecognized” by Israel.

By Wednesday night the situation had spun out of control after Israeli forces intensified attacks and arrests against the local residents.

However Palestinian residents of Negev declared determination to continue their protests against their land confiscation by the “Jewish National Fund”.

The Jewish National Fund was established as a non-profit Zionist organization in the year 1901 with the purpose of collecting money from Jews in the world to purchase land in Palestine.

Meanwhile Palestinian national forces declared several protests to be held on Thursday and Friday within the Green Line in support of the Negev villages and in rejection of the Israeli ethnic cleansing policy.
