The High Leading Committee of the Hamas Prisoners has announced that a first group of prisoners led by prominent officials from the Movement will start in the coming hours an open-ended hunger strike aimed at pressuring the Israeli prison service to respond to their demands.
In a statement on Sunday morning the committee said it would also disband the body representing the Hamas prisoners in Israeli jails describing this step as “very important.”
Over the past few days Palestinian prisoners in different jails took several protest steps to pressure Israeli jailers to end all the repressive and punitive measures taken recently in Nafha and Damon jails and provide the female detainees in Damon with a telephone service.
