The Higher Leading Committee of the Hamas Prisoners has affirmed that it will not remain silent towards the suffering of several hunger-striking administrative detainees in Israeli jails and will not leave them fighting their battle alone.
“Dozens of prisoners are prepared to fight an open-ended hunger strike battle in support of the seven prisoners who are on hunger strike in protest at their administrative detention” the Committee said in a press release on Sunday.
“It is high time for everyone to take urgent and swift action to put an end to the crime of administrative detention that our people have been suffering from for decades” it added.
It held the Israeli occupation state fully responsible for any harm coming to the hunger strikers especially Kayed al-Fasfous and Miqdad al-Qawasmeh.
It called on international human rights groups to shoulder their responsibilities and move to curb Israel’s violations against the Palestinian prisoners.
Seven Palestinian prisoners have been on open-ended hunger strike for different periods in protest at their detention administratively with no indictments or trials.
Prisoner Kayed al-Fasfous from Dura town in al-Khalil is considered the longest hunger-striking prisoner as he has been on hunger strike for 102 days.
The other hunger strikers are Miqdad al-Qawasmeh Alaa al-Araj Hisham Abu Hawash Shadi Abu Aker and Eyyad al-Harimi and Ra’fat Abu Rabiee. They have been on hunger strike for 95 78 69 61 32 and 8 days respectively.
