Jordan’s Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs has warned that Israel’s persistence in its systematic aggressive practices against the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem will plunge the region into a religious war and create more instability in the world.
“The groups of the alleged temple which number over 80 extremist Zionist organizations are actively calling nowadays for desecrating the holy Aqsa Mosque to mark what is falsely called the anniversary of the temple destruction” secretary-general of the committee Abdullah Kanaan told Jordan News Agency.
Kanaan slammed “the democratic world that calls for respecting freedoms of worship and faith” for not moving to curb such Israeli practices urging the international community and its organizations to swiftly assume their legal and moral duties in this regard.
He said that his committee “is following with great concern the Israeli settler calls for storming the Aqsa Mosque to mark provocative celebrations at the Aqsa Mosque” warning the Israeli government of allowing extremist Jewish settlers and groups to defile the Mosque.
The Jordanian official emphasized that such practice would raise the ire of the Palestinian people and prompt them to rise up to defend their identity and holy sites.
For its part the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) held the Israeli occupation state fully responsible for any consequences resulting from its intent to allow Jewish settlers to carry out mass break-ins at the Aqsa Mosque on Sunday.
“Jerusalem and its Aqsa Mosque will always be a thorn in the side of the Zionists until we uproot them from our land and our holy city” the PLC’s Committee on Jerusalem and Aqsa said in a statement on Saturday.
