The Israeli prison service (IPS) returned the Palestinian prisoner Rabee Abu Nuwas to Shatta jail after 16 months of solitary confinement the Palestinian prisoner’s club said in a statement on Saturday evening.
It said that prisoners’ protests had forced the IPS to return him to jail.
The club said that the 32-year-old prisoner from Sinjil village in Ramallah was held in isolation for resisting the Israeli jailers’ raid on Ofer prison cells in February 2020. He was injured in the violent raid and was banned from family visits during his isolation.
Abu Nuwas was imprisoned since October 2019 and is a father of three little girls he was supposed to be sentenced for a few months in jail but due to the IPS claim that he resisted jailers the Israeli court is expected to sentence him for years in jail.
