Three Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike in Israeli jails

The Palestinian Prisoners Club said on Sunday that three prisoners in the Israeli prisons continue their open hunger strike rejecting their administrative detention.

The club stated in a press statement that Imad Swarka 37 started his hunger strike on 18/03/2021 after an occupation court issued a new administrative detention order against him. This is the third administrative detention order against him since his arrest in July 2020.

Meanwhile Musab al-Hor 33 continues his hunger strike for 13 consecutive days. He is being held in the Negev desert prison and he has been detained since 2019. Hor is married and has one child.

The journalist Ala’a Rimawi from Ramallah continues his open-ended hunger strike for the fifth day in a row. He was taken from the Etzion detention center to the Israeli Shaare Zedek hospital on Saturday.

Rimawi is a former prisoner who spent a total of 11 years in the occupation prisons. He is married and has five children. He declared his strike on the first day of his arrest on April 21.

Three Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike in Israeli jails

Three Palestinian detainees have been on hunger strike for different periods in Israeli jails.

The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said in a press statement on Sunday that Palestinian prisoners Oday Shehada Fadi Ghneimat and Mohammed Abu al-Rob have been on hunger strike for 27 days 26 days and 7 days respectively.

Oday Shehada 24 and Fadi Ghneimat 40 both arrested in 2019 started their open-ended hunger strike in protest at their administrative detention without charge or trial.

Meanwhile prisoner Mohammed Abu al-Rob has been on hunger strike for a week in solidarity with his fellow inmate Kamal Abu Wa’ar a cancer patient who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Abu al-Rob who has been detained since 2003 is serving a 30-year sentence in Israeli jails.

Three Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike in Israeli jails

Three Palestinian prisoners continued their hunger strikes in Israeli prisons to demand an end to their administrative detention according to which they are illegally held without charge or trial.

Hassan Shokeh 29 from Bethlehem declared hunger strike on October 11 against his imprisonment without charge or trial.

Shokeh was detained by Israeli forces in late September less than one month after his last release from Israeli prisons on 31 August and ordered imprisoned for six months without charge or trial.

Bilal Diab former long-term hunger striker from Kafr Ra’i town near Jenin has been on hunger strike for 22 days.

Diab 32 previously conducted a 78-day hunger strike with Thaer Halahleh in 2012. After being re-arrested by Israeli forces on 14 July 2017 he appealed against his imprisonment without charge or trial.

However his appeal was refused on 17 October prompting him to launch his hunger strike.

Along the same line Hamza Bouzia from Salfit declared hunger strike in protest against his detention without charge or trial under administrative detention.

He has been refusing food for 18 days to demand his immediate release.
