Thousands of Palestinian citizens on Friday evening rallied inside the Aqsa Mosque compound in Occupied Jerusalem in protest at Israeli police and settler violence in the holy city.
According to local sources thousands of worshipers gathered spontaneously in the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards following the evening Isha and Tarawih prayers and chanted slogans against the Israeli occupation and its violations in Jerusalem.
Carrying Palestinian flags the protesters also chanted slogans in support of Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque.
The fresh police and settler violence started Thursday night in which the Red Crescent reported at least 105 Palestinians wounded of whom approximately 20 were taken to hospitals.
There have been nightly disturbances in the area since the start of Ramadan on April 13 with Palestinians outraged by police blocking access to promenades and open areas around the Old City walls after the end of the daytime Ramadan fast.
Tensions in the holy city were fuelled on Thursday and Friday by far-right Jewish groups who went on the rampage through Palestinian areas in the holy city physically attacking Palestinians destroying property and chanting “death to Arabs”.
