Settlers attack elderly Palestinian cut down 100 olive trees

Sunday 4-April-2021

An Israeli human rights organization condemned on Sunday the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) for standing by watching Jewish settlers assaulting and wounding an elderly Palestinian man who was working on his farmland.

The Yesh Din human rights organization said that a group of masked settlers from the Ish Kodash settlement attacked on Saturday a 50-year-old Palestinian man while he was tending to his land east of Jaloud.

The settlers also prevented the farmer from continuing to work at gunpoint and tore down electricity poles on the road between the towns of Qusra and Jaloud.

The report pointed out that settlers hit the elderly Palestinian with batons and threw large stones at him. He suffered various injuries.

The organization pointed out that two IOF soldiers arrived in the area near the settlers and instead of stopping the settlers’ attack on the elderly man and protecting him they forced him out of his land.

IOF also started firing stun grenades at Jaloud’s residents who were trying to help the elderly Palestinian.

The organization published a video documenting the attack on the elderly farmer.

In another development Emad Hassan a member of Qasra’s municipality said that settlers of the Ish Kodash settlement cut down about 100 olive saplings in Qusra town south of Nablus.
