Prisoner Battran enters day 40 of his hunger strike

Wednesday 31-March-2021

Palestinian prisoner Emad al-Battran has entered day 40 of his hunger strike in protest at his administrative detention with no indictment or trial.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) the Israeli prison service (IPS) repeatedly transferred prisoner Battran from one jail to another to pressure him to break his hunger strike.

PPS pointed out that Battran started his hunger strike in Megiddo jail before transferring him to Ramla (Ayalon) jail then to a hospital and recently to an isolation cell in Nitzan jail.

PPS described the transfer of Palestinian hunger strikers to other jails repeatedly as one of the tools used by IPS to punish them and pressure them to end their hunger strike.
