The Turkish Foreign Ministry has praised the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding its jurisdiction over the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.
In a statement issued on Saturday the ministry described this step as “important” in terms of holding the Israeli occupation accountable for the crimes it committed and commits in the Palestinian territories and identifying those responsible for those crimes.
It indicated that the ICC step would enhance the decision of granting protection to the Palestinian people which was approved by the United Nations.
“The international community’s support for this step will have an impact in deterring violence practiced by Israel against the Palestinians” the ministry stressed.
