The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has said that 36 Palestinian women are being held in Damon jail under inhumane incarceration conditions.
24 of these women are serving different prison terms including two with 16 years. Nine are on remand and three women are administratively detained according to the Commission on Sunday.
Some of the detainees suffer from very difficult health conditions and deliberate medical neglect like the case of prisoner Israa Jaabis who suffers from burns and needs surgical procedures.
Other prisoners who also need special medical care include Amal Taqatqa who was injured by five bullets and needs an operation to remove internal fixators from her leg prisoner Iman Awar who suffers from cancerous lumps in the vocal cords and prisoner Nasreen Abu Kamil who suffers from hypertension diabetes and sore toes.
