Israeli prison forces last night physically assaulted the Palestinian prisoners in the Megiddo jail and ransacked their cells.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society the tension in the prison started when the Megiddo administration started to transfer a large group of prisoners form Gilboa prison to the jail prompting one of the prisoners to confront the prison manager and object to such measure.

Soon later prison forces raided the cells in sections 6 and 5 of the Megiddo jail and embarked on assaulting the detainees.

In recent weeks the Israeli prison service escalated its repressive measures against the Palestinian prisoners in several jails especially in Ofer Gilboa and Megiddo.

Israeli prison forces on Tuesday night stormed section 4 of the Megiddo jail and brutalized Palestinian prisoners.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society the forces’ raid on section 4 lasted for several hours before they transferred 20 prisoners to other temporary cells.

A few days ago 92 prisoners had been transferred from section 7 which was flooded by rainwater to section 4.

Because of the resultant overcrowding in section 4 some prisoners had to sleep on floors.
