IOA okays demolition of Palestinian prisoner’s house in Jenin

Monday 6-July-2020

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Sunday approved the demolition of a Palestinian house belonging to the family of prisoner Nadmi Abu Bakr whom the Shin Bet claim is behind the death of an Israeli soldier.

According to local sources head of the Israeli army’s central command Nadav Padan signed an order allowing the confiscation and demolition of a house belonging to the family of prisoner Abu Bakr.

A copy of the military order was handed to the family of Abu Bakr who recently filed a petition against the intended demolition but the IOA rejected their plea.

In this regard HaMoked an Israeli human rights group intends to file a petition with the Israeli high court of justice regarding the demolition of Abu Bakr’s house in the West Bank town of Ya’bad.

Last month the Israeli occupation forces stormed Jenin’s town of Ya’bad and mapped the house of Abu Bakr a 49-year-old Palestinian imprisoned in Israeli jails as a prelude to demolishing it.

The IOF accuses Abu Bakr of throwing a brick that killed an Israeli soldier in May 2020.

Lawyer Khaled Mahajneh who works for the Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs said the Israeli claims against Abu Bakr were untrue and fabricated adding that prisoner Abu Bakr denied all the charges leveled against him.

Prisoner Abu Baker has been exposed to harsh interrogation sessions since his arrest and he is reportedly being detained in inhumane incarceration conditions.
