Prisoner Mutawakil Radwan medically neglected in Israeli jails

Sunday 30-April-2023

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has said that prisoner Mutawakil Radwan is another victim of the medical neglect policy that is pursued by the Israeli prison service (IPS) against Palestinian prisoners.

In a report on Sunday the Commission explained that prisoner Radwan who is currently in Megiddo jail suffers from blood clotting clogged arteries pains in the back and joints and a chronic disease that causes inflammation of blood vessels pointing out that he also had a cardiac catheterization operation.

According to the Commission Radwan did not suffer from any health issue before his arrest except for slight knee pains.

The Commission appealed to all international health institutions especially the World Health Organization the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders to intervene urgently to save Radwan’s life and pressure for his release in order for him to receive proper medical treatment outside Israeli prisons.

Prisoner Radwan was arrested on October 5 2003 after the Israeli occupation forces had kept looking for him for over two years. Soon later he was sentenced by an Israeli court to 22 years in prison.
