Hamas: Israeli home demolitions cannot quell our people’s resistance

Tuesday 8-August-2023

The Hamas Movement has said that the Israeli occupation’s destruction of homes belonging to families of martyrs and prisoners has proven its failure to suppress the Palestinian resistance and affect the morale of the fighters and their relatives.

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed a Palestinian refugee camp near Nablus early Tuesday morning and detonated the home of a Hamas resistance fighter who killed two Jewish settler brothers earlier this year.

Clashes reportedly broke out at dawn in Askar refugee camp on the outskirts of Nablus during the IOF operation to demolish the home of Abdul-Fattah Kharusha a member of al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas.

In a statement on Tuesday morning Hamas applauded the Nablus youths and resistance fighters who clashed with Israeli forces during the demolition operation in Askar camp.

The Movement condemned the destruction of martyr Kharusha’s home in Nablus as a &ldquonew crime&rdquo but it expressed its belief that such Israeli practices would encourage the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Jerusalem to respond to the occupation and its settlers by escalating their resistance operations.

On February 26 Kharusha 49 shot and killed an Israeli soldier and his brother as they drove through the West Bank town of Huwara.

Kharusha fled the scene and was killed during an Israeli raid in Jenin on March 7.

Kharusha’s home in Nablus has been slated for demolition for several months along with that of his son who has been accused of helping his father.
