The horrors of the genocide war in Gaza are beyond description. It is a criminal war, unparalleled in modern history, waged by Israel against Gaza for the past eight months.

In this war, there are no sanctities or red lines. Everyone is in the crosshairs: children, women, and the elderly. This crime has been witnessed by the entire world, yet no one has moved to stop it.

The silent preacher

Mohammed Abdul Bari, a well-known voice from Gaza, is an Islamic preacher, eloquent speaker, and media representative for a Hajj and Umrah company. He is also one of the victims of this aggressive war.

Known as “Abu Shadi,” the preacher lost his speech and memory due to the trauma he suffered after Israeli aircraft bombed his family’s home in the Al-Amal neighborhood of Khan Younis last December. This attack led to the martyrdom of 36 members of his family.

He stares blankly, not uttering a word, as if in another world, present in body but unaware of his surroundings.

His son Mohammed recounts, “When my father used to go to deliver the Friday sermon, I would accompany him to the mosque.” With tears in his eyes, he adds that after the sermon, he would run to hug his father, sharing moments of pride and joy.

Crying bitterly, Mohammed says, “Now he doesn’t speak, nor does he remember anything.”

Unforgettable day

The preacher’s father describes the day of the incident: “We were at my daughter’s house in Khan Yunis, next to the Hassan al-Banna Mosque. The bombing happened while we were sleeping, and my son and grandchildren were on the fifth floor.”

“I was on the ground floor. At 8 p.m. on December 12th, our house was bombed, collapsing on those inside, most of whom were children and women.”

With a sorrowful tone, the father continues, “I went out to check who survived the bombing and found ‘Abu Shadi’ sitting in a terrible state. My grandchildren and daughters were scattered on the ground.”

The treacherous Israeli bombing led to the death of 36 members of Mohammed Abdul Bari’s family, including his mother, wife, and some sisters.

Mohammed Abdul Bari survived, as did his son Shadi and daughter Ghaliya, who were thrown to the ground from the fifth floor by the explosion.

His sister recounts that after the bombing, Abu Shadi was initially normal, accepting the situation and even encouraging those around him to be patient through this trial.

However, the effects of the bombing appeared two weeks after the incident, when he suddenly lost his speech and memory, wandering aimlessly until some passersby found him and brought him back to his “tent”.

His son Shadi suffered a broken leg, treated by doctors with a platinum plate to stabilize the bone, but they informed the family that his leg needed treatment abroad.

His daughter Ghaliya was traumatized by what she witnessed and also suffered shrapnel injuries to her delicate body.

The child lost her mother’s love and affection, and while her father is present before her eyes, he does not speak to her or remember her.

Hope for treatment

The preacher’s sister says they contacted relatives in Qatar, who expressed willingness to receive the preacher and his family and provide appropriate treatment. However, they asked them to first “get through” the Rafah border crossing.

It is well known that leaving through the Rafah crossing is almost impossible, especially after it was stormed and controlled by Israeli forces.

His sister called on all responsible parties to help this afflicted family, hoping they might find treatment to alleviate their suffering.
