With bodies closer to skeletal structures, thick beards, and unkempt long hair, dozens of Palestinian detainees arrived in northern Gaza Strip after being released by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Tuesday, as if they had returned to life from the dungeons of death.

The IOF released around 50 detainees near the Zikim military base northwest of the Gaza Strip, and opened fire on them, forcing them to run hundreds of meters until they reached the northern part of the Gaza Strip in very poor condition.

Salama Maarouf, the director of the Government Media Office, said that about 50 prisoners were released from the Zikim area west of Beit Lahia, adding they hail from different areas of the Strip.

He underlined that they were transferred to the Kamal Adwan Hospital, due to their poor health condition, as most of them suffer from bone and chest fractures, and emaciated bodies that were not separated from the shackles throughout their kidnapping period by the IOF.

On one of the beds at Kamal Adwan Hospital, one of the detainees was lying in a state of total collapse, repeating that throughout his detention he did not sleep.

The detainee’s daughter embraced him, her eyes filled with tears, while the father, burdened with grief and pain, was unable to embrace her.

As for the detainee Amr Al-Aklouk, his illness with cancer and his repeated exit for treatment from the Gaza Strip did not avail him, as the IOF arrested him during his return from his last treatment journey.

Al-Aklouk said that the IOF arrested him during his return from a treatment trip to Jordan and transferred him to Ofer prison, confirming that he witnessed the martyrdom of the detainee Muhammad Al-Kahlout as a result of being subjected to torture about 5 days ago, noting that the detainee was in good health and told him to reassure his family upon his release, but he was martyred the next day.

Some of Al-Kahlout’s family members arrived and showed his picture to Al-Aklouk, who confirmed that he was the martyred detainee, noting that the soldiers put him in a bag and transferred him to an unknown location.

He stressed that the detainees from Gaza are subjected to daily and brutal torture.

According to our correspondent’s observations, among the released detainees were a lady and elderly people who did not escape torture and abuse.

Since the beginning of its aggression on the Gaza Strip, the occupation forces have arrested more than 6,000 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, including women and children, and subjected them to brutal torture and enforced disappearance, killing dozens of them.
