Two human rights organizations concerned with prisoner affairs reported that the Palestinian detainee Ayman Abed from Jenin city was martyred as a result of beating and torture.

The Palestinian Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees and the Palestinian Prisoners Society said in a joint statement that the Israeli occupation army committed a compounded crime against citizen Ayman Rajeh Ayyad (58 years old) from Kfar Dan village, west of Jenin city, after he was arrested early this Monday from his home as a hostage to pressure his injured son to surrender.

The organizations clarified that Abed was executed in the field due to beating and torture. They added that, according to the initial medical examination of martyr Abed at Jenin Government Hospital, there were clear signs of restraints on his hands and signs of beating and torture on his body, confirming that he was martyred as a result, especially since, according to his family, he did not suffer from any serious or chronic health problems.

The Prisoners Society pointed out that the arrest of martyr Abed came after repeated raids on his home, aimed at pressuring his son to surrender.

The organizations noted that martyr Abed is the father of two detainees in Israeli occupation prisons, namely Islam and Ihsan Abed, and that his third son is injured and pursued by the occupation.

They continued that since the start of the genocide war on Gaza 11 months ago, Israeli occupation forces have escalated field execution crimes against dozens of citizens who were targets for arrest.

They also highlighted field executions carried out against citizens during the arrest of one of their relatives, or during ongoing and escalating arrest campaigns in the West Bank since October 7, 2023, which have resulted in the arrest of more than 10,400 citizens, in addition to thousands from Gaza.

Field executions represent one of the most prominent systematic policies employed by the occupation over decades, which has intensified – unprecedentedly – since October 7 in light of the ongoing genocide war for nearly 11 months.

The organizations indicated that the total number of arrests in the West Bank since the start of the occupation’s military aggression in northern West Bank on August 28 has reached about 130 confirmed cases of arrest, noting the inability to determine the final tally of arrests in the northern governorates, which is estimated to be in the dozens.
