Since the announcement of the agreement on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Israeli occupation forces have intensified their criminal military attacks against safe Palestinians throughout the Strip. Our correspondent reported that the criminal attacks launched by the Israeli occupation targeted homes and groups of citizens, in addition to civilian institutions, in an attempt to inflict the greatest harm on innocents even in the hours leading up to the ceasefire entering into effect next Sunday afternoon.
A bloody toll
According to the Civil Defense, 101 martyrs have fallen since the announcement of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, 82 of whom are in Gaza City. Citizens spoke to our correspondent, stating that Israeli aircraft are roaming the skies of the Gaza Strip, searching for prey to target with arrogance and terror. Citizen Mahmoud al-Haddad told our correspondent that just a few hours after the ceasefire announcement in the Gaza Strip, warplanes raided tents in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, resulting in martyrs and injuries. He described the hours leading up to the truce as the most difficult, given the scale of the Israeli bombardment across all areas.
Calls for caution
In Gaza City, citizen Muhammad Muqdad told our correspondent: “How far away is Sunday! In every remaining minute, martyrs and the injured are falling, as if Israel has taken it upon itself to sow death in the Strip until the last moment.” Muqdad urges citizens to take the utmost caution and asks Allah for “protection for our people.”
Last night, as part of one of the bloody massacres, Israeli occupation forces committed a massacre in Abasan, east of Khan Yunis, against the Baraka family. Local sources reported that on a new day of tragedy, the town of Abasan al-Jadida, east of Khan Yunis, awoke to the sound of a horrific humanitarian crime. They added that the sounds of explosions pierced the stillness of the night, announcing the targeting of the Baraka family’s home, turning it into rubble that conceals the dreams of an entire family.
Amidst the rubble and tears
Several family members rose as martyrs, leaving behind an indescribable pain. The moments were heavy in the European Hospital in Khan Yunis, as surviving family members stood in shock before the bags of martyrs, trying to comprehend the loss they had suffered. A young man sat, broken, his eyes overflowing with pain and tears, beside him a woman supporting him, trying to instill a little patience in his burdened heart. On the silent walls, the reflections of broken faces told stories of lives cut short in an instant.
The people of the Strip await the moment the ceasefire goes into effect to breathe a sigh of relief and begin to heal deep wounds after 15 months of annihilation.
