The file of Gaza detainees during the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip remains like a black box, with no one knowing the extent of its horrific details, except for the images leaked by the Hebrew media, testimonies from released detainees, or the remnants of evidence left by the criminal occupation army, which serve as proof of a Nazi extermination war. This is represented by large quantities of clothing belonging to those detainees, as hundreds and thousands of them were gathered in open areas, stripped of their clothes in extremely harsh and cold conditions, and taken naked to inhumane detention centers to continue the crime in front of the world’s eyes.
Documenting the crime
Journalists’ cameras documented the clothing of Palestinian prisoners detained by the Israeli army from northern Gaza after they were stripped during the extermination campaign carried out by Tel Aviv for more than 15 months. Footage from the Beit Lahia project area near the Kamal Adwan hospital shows large amounts of torn clothing scattered on the ground, extending over a long distance. Journalist Abdul Qadir Sabah stated in the video, “These are the clothes of Palestinian prisoners detained by the Israeli occupation forces during their incursion into the Beit Lahia project, Kamal Adwan hospital, and northern Gaza areas.”
He added, “The occupation forces gathered the residents in front of the wedding hall and then proceeded to search and strip them” in the extremely cold winter atmosphere. He continued, “The clothes (on the ground) bear witness to what the Israeli occupation forces have done to the residents in the northern Gaza area.”
He pointed out that there were large numbers of Palestinians in the area, as the Al-Fakhura school, which shelters displaced persons, was turned by the Israeli army into a command center where Palestinians were gathered. He said that “the occupation forces arrested hundreds of Palestinians from northern Gaza and took them to unknown locations, and many of them have not yet been released.”
The military operation that began on October 5, 2024, in the northern governorate was halted with the implementation of a ceasefire agreement on Sunday 19/1/2025. With U.S. support, Israel committed genocide in the Gaza Strip between October 7, 2023, and January 19, 2025, resulting in more than 158,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and over 14,000 missing.
On Sunday morning, a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel began, lasting for 42 days in its first phase, during which negotiations will take place for subsequent phases, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.
More than 3000 detainees
It is noted that the Israeli occupation authorities and the Supreme Court reported that approximately 3,464 detainees from Gaza are still held in Israeli detention centers, while 151 detainees were released for various reasons. This update came based on a petition submitted by the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel, according to the Ynet website.
Torture and mistreatment
The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor stated that Israeli prisons and detention centers are systematically designed to torture and mistreat Palestinian prisoners and detainees, depriving them of their most basic human rights. The Monitor explained in a statement earlier this month that Israel’s opening of an underground prison in Ramla, along with footage showing prisoners in harsh humanitarian conditions that severely violate international detention standards, reflects a disregard for the international justice system, but is a natural result of a long history of impunity.
Videos published by Israeli media showed Palestinian prisoners and detainees shackled inside sunless cells, locked with iron gates, and lacking any mattresses or blankets, in a place located underground. The Monitor emphasized that the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation army against Palestinian prisoners and detainees from Gaza constitute full-fledged war crimes and crimes against humanity.
