“A few hours and Gaza will be wiped out” this is not a news prediction, but a desperate plea full of blame and reproach from one of the residents of the Gaza Strip. The screams rise, and the calls for help continue, amid the massacres, widespread destruction, and genocide carried out by the Israeli occupation army against unarmed civilians. The situation is no longer what it was during the 15-month round, but has become darker and the losses more catastrophic since the resumption of aggression last Ramadan, with the Israeli army conducting unprecedented ethnic cleansing and a complete erasure of what remains of life in the Gaza Strip.
The expansion of Israeli aggression, the tightening of the blockade on the residents of the Gaza Strip, starving and dehydrating them completely, and the ongoing threats of displacement have not found any rescuer—neither from neighboring countries nor from those who share with these oppressed people their ethnicity, religion, language, origin, and destiny—let alone human conscience. Meanwhile, everyone suffices with statements of condemnation and denunciation without any real action to stop the bloodshed in Gaza or to curb Israeli recklessness in the region.
At the beginning of Ramadan, the crossings were closed, and humanitarian aid was prevented, until warehouses were emptied of all basic necessities for life. Then, on March 18, the occupation resumed its aggression on the besieged population in a fiercer manner than the first round of the war, leaving behind thousands of martyrs and wounded—all amid international silence, as if no one hears about Gaza.
A catastrophic health situation
Dr. Fadel Naeem, director of the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, said that the situation is catastrophic and out of control due to successive massacres. He appealed to concerned parties to pressure for the opening of the crossings to relieve the burden on the healthcare system, pointing to the lack of enough fuel to operate the hospitals.
In an interview on Al Jazeera Network, Naeem explained that there is only one CT scan machine in the northern Gaza Strip, while dozens are needed, indicating that the healthcare system is exhausted, depleted, and unable to cope with the situation under the ongoing pressure.
He stressed the need to stop the Israeli aggression, especially the successive massacres, and to open border crossings to bring in medical teams to support local staff, as well as medical supplies and fuel to provide the necessary services.
Naeem also called for allowing thousands of wounded people to travel abroad for treatment, which would alleviate the pressure on the healthcare system that has not received any medical supplies since the ceasefire.
Cries from the heart of the holocaust
Following the Israeli occupation army’s announcement of expanding its aggression in the southern Gaza Strip by calling up ground forces to invade Rafah and erase what remains of its homes and facilities after all its residents have been displaced, the occupation army announced on Friday morning the implementation of another ground operation in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip. This came in conjunction with Israeli movements to sever the Gaza Strip, separating its north from its center, and its center from its south.
The residents of the Gaza Strip, who are enduring all these calamities, have not stopped crying for help and pleading with the Arab and Islamic nations, as they see no diplomatic movement to restrain the Israeli occupation or deter it from continuing its crimes against them. Social media platforms have witnessed many such pleas, expressing how the tragedy of abandonment affects them no less than the genocide being committed against them.
On the X platform, Abu Salah wrote: “Rafah is without buildings or residents… the largest ethnic cleansing in modern times, all live-streamed.” While Islam Badr wrote: “The explosions from Israeli shelling were so intense that the sirens sounded in the surrounding areas! It was like an earthquake, not explosions! Our hearts jumped from afar… so what of the hearts of those nearby—women, children, and the elderly?!”
“O most unjust nation”
Another user tweeted, commenting on the rescue of a girl from under the rubble: “They pulled her tiny body from under the rubble, frail and exhausted from hunger and war. Her home is gone, as are the homes of her neighbors and relatives. Israel bombed the area with a ruthless robot, killing everyone and leaving behind only silence and destruction screaming in pain.”
Ahmad Al-Naffar commented on a photo of a girl rescued from the rubble: “From her expression… her condition speaks louder than any words.”
Activist Saleh Al-Jaafrawi wrote: “A few hours and Gaza will burn. You’ll only find us in Paradise. Farewell, O most unjust nation in history.”
Remember us when you’re with your loved ones
Journalist Anas Al-Sharif wrote: “A piece of news that doesn’t matter to you: a headless infant girl. This baby was killed in an Israeli massacre that targeted an UNRWA clinic in the middle of Jabalia camp. Imagine how our children, the apples of our eyes, are being killed with such brutality!”
Al-Sharif tweeted again this morning: “Today is Friday—remember us when you’re with your loved ones. Here in Gaza, death, hunger, bombing, and destruction chase us every moment. We die a thousand times a day. Who will survive tonight? No one knows.”
“They abandoned us”
In his tweet, Mahmoud Al-Banna wrote: “Judgment Day in Gaza. Hundreds of thousands of people in the streets without water, food, or shelter. Corpses of martyrs and the injured fill the roads. There is no transportation. More than a hundred drones and F-35 warplanes in the skies over Gaza bombing randomly without pause.”
Al-Banna added: “Our Egyptian brothers and President Sisi abandoned us by participating in the blockade and closing the Rafah crossing in our faces. By God, we will hold you accountable on the Day of Judgment before the Almighty, the Avenger.”
